Survey of Non-Medical Use of Rx Drugs

The Survey of Non-Medical Use of Prescription Drugs (NMURx) Program studies non-medical use of a range of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications among the general population of adults and characterized associated behaviors and outcomes.

The Survey of Non-Medical Use of Prescription Drugs Program is an online survey administered in each country twice a year through a survey administration company. The survey collects data about lifetime and recent non-medical use of prescription and over-the-counter medications. For each report of non-medical use of a brand-name or generic product, additional information is sought regarding the frequency of non-medical use during the past year, 90 days, month, or week, reasons for non-medical use, routes of administration for non-medical use, sources of drug acquisition, and the street price paid if the product was obtained through illicit channels.
