Drug Diversion

The Drug Diversion program collects data on the illicit acquisition or distribution of prescription opioids, stimulants, and other prescription drugs of interest from entities investigating drug diversion cases.

The Drug Diversion Program is composed of approximately 250 prescription drug diversion investigators and regulatory agencies across the US who are surveyed quarterly and asked to report the number of new instances of pharmaceutical diversion investigated. Data are obtained from municipal police departments, multi-jurisdictional drug task forces, county sheriffs’ departments, pharmaceutical boards and departments of health.
